What’s an email list – what should an email list be like?
An email list is where you can build up a list of peoples emails who want to read your content or use your products. It means you are now connected with them on a more personal email as you can email each other.
Sometimes people grow there email lists by offering freebies like this one:
Where you can sign up to get access to my freebies bank.
What should an email provider be like?
An email service should allow you to create clear emails where you can get your main point across. You should be able to see stats on how many people are opening and clicking on links in your emails.
It should be easy to navigate around and easy to create popups and landing pages.
If you want help with understanding landing pages and how to create them then check this out.
Why are email lists important
Email lists are so important for bloggers and small businesses. You can use them to promote your blog posts, promote your services and products, and generally get to know more of your subscribers.
It means you can get your target audience and have them right in front of you for when you are ready to promote or sell.
Subscribers = sales
ConvertKit Vs Flodesk Pricing
ConvertKit Prices:
Firstly, I wanted to start with the ConvertKit Vs Flodesk pricing.
I feel like money was one of the main aspects for me.
I was a new blogger who had just bought a domain, a host and a WordPress theme costing over £100. I was not about to go spending lots more on an email provider.
Which is why I started off with ConvertKit. You can get up to 1000 for free and signing up is completely free. Which is great if you are a newbie just starting out.
The only thing is, once you start gaining more subscribers – which is what I wanted to do to grow my blog – then the price goes up and up. As you can see below, the price rapidly increases per month the more subscribers you gain.
However, if you did have 10,000 subscribers it would make sense if you were able to convert these into sales meaning you pay be able to cover the email service cost with your sales revenue.
You can find out more about ConvertKit’s pricing HERE.
Flodesk pricing:
Flodesk pricing is much more simple to explain. Due to them being a new compamy, they have a lot of elements as a work in progress.
This has not effected my use at all – in fact when they bring in new elements it just gets better and better.
Flodesk is charging $38 a month no matter how many email subs you have. If you have less than 1000 subscribers this may seem like a bit much. However, when you get up to 3000+ it seems like such a bargain.
What makes it even better is that I have a link you can use to get it for $19 per month! Or you can pay annually and get it for $17.40 a month (this is about £15 a month for those of you in the UK). You can also sign up now and get a month free to see if you enjoy it (and also work on growing your list!)
SIGN UP TO FLODESK NOW! GET IT FOR $19 OR $17.40 A MONTH! or just try it for free!

They also offer workshops to help you along the way. I actually took part in a workshop where i learnt how to use landing pages and it was extremely helpful I have to say.
Convert Kit Pros
- They offer an affiliate program
- Excellent reputation
- Amazingly designed landing page templates for different purposes eg. product sale, product launch, etc
- Tags and segments to put your subscribers into
- Integration with more than 70 companies including Shopify, WordPress, Teachable and giveaway boost
- Chatbox and FAQ page
- Free landing pages and pop ups which are easy to create
ConvertKit Cons
- Cost increases when your subscriber count increases
- No email templates
ConvertKit Overview
ConvertKit has a lot to offer and in some ways you are getting what you pay for.
They have been in the game for 7 years now so they know exactly what’s needed in an email provider. I do believe that maybe plain emails are the way forward to get your point across. Bur, personally I love to add font, colour and images to my emails to make them more interesting.
I guess this comes down to personal preference, as I tend to disregard emails that are plain black text. Whereas other bloggers say plain emails means you can clearly get your point across.

Flodesk Overview
Desipte not begin around for long, I know so many people who are jumping on the Flodesk bandwagon. They do have tutorials on youtube if you need any help navigating the program.
I seemed to manage just fine finding my way around. The only thing I needed help with was understanding workflows but a couple of YouTube videos later i had nailed the process.
Overall winner
I personally love Flodesk because I can tailor the emails to match my brand. The price is amazing for what they offer. I personally believe I am getting more than what I was getting with Convertkit.
Flodesk 100% suits my needs better as a small blogger looking to grow bigger and work on monetising my blog.
I am over the moon that with flodesk I can create pretty emails, super landing pages and pop ups that work to get subscribers.
WINNER: Flodesk
