Giving your bedroom a modern look does not mean you have to spend loads of money and buy brand new things. I have come up with a few bedroom inspiration ideas that include little changes you can make. These little changes will have a huge impact on your room!
You can make your room look expensive without even trying! These 10 simple changes are something that everyone to do and you don’t have to spend much money if any!

Fairy lights
Fairy lights are some a simple way to make a room look modern and cute. They are such a cheap and effective way of achieving that simple look. You can buy fairy lights for very cheap off amazon ( linked below).
You can create so many different looks with them as well as choosing the colour you want. Going for a dark yellowy colour would be warmer cosy vibe or you could go for a bright white. Depending on the style of room you want to go for.

Pillows
Stack up on pillows! Dress up your bed and have a little display of pillows. I would say 6+ is a good idea. Get pillows of different sizes and that fit around your colour scheme. They add some dimension to your room. Your pillows you sleep on should be placed against the backboard. Then the rest should be places in height order to get the best look. Adding more pillows creates a more relaxing space.
Another thing you can do if you have a chair in your room is add a pillow. A chair looks much more inviting with a pillow on it.
Amazon have such a wide range of pillows at different prices so you can pick and choose the best ones to design your new look!
White walls
This is a big one for getting that modern look. Having white walls will make space look more open and brighter. This is a great way to stay with a fresh base which you can build your bedroom on.
It is also a good little job for you to do something fun. Get the white paint out and give it a go yourself. Ask someone in your family to join you so you can get the job done faster if you’re under a time limit. What’s the worst that could happen?
Plants
Go green and get some plants. The green from the plants always compliments a white wall perfectly. Having a little bit of green can make a massive change. There are so many options for the type of plants that you can find.
Amazon has some great cheap fake plants. Or you can give your self more responsibility and go for the real ones!
Bulletin board
A bullet board that isn’t too overcrowded is a great way to add a little something to your room. You could add some pictures on there of your favourite memories. Or add things like concert tickets and theatre tickets.
A bulletin board is not only a great way to add something to your room but to make it personal with photos and memories.
Amazon has a variety of boards, you can go for the average board like the one below or you can make your own board and arrange it how you want it to go.

Don’t overcrowd
A good tip is to not overcrowd your bedroom. Get rid of any furniture that is not a necessity. This way you can have more open space, making the bedroom look bigger.
Sometimes just rearranging your furniture can change the whole look of the bedroom. It may fit a better way if you give it a bit of a change around.
Reduce clutter
Get rid of all the clutter on top of your dressing table or your bedside table. Make it look more simple and only have a number of items on there. Its good to go for the “less is more” saying as you can strategically place the items you do keep on your tables.
Clean up after yourself and keep your room to a tidy standard. Sometimes a room just needs a good tidy and it will look 10x better.
Keep things simple
Leading on from my last point. Keep things simple around your room. Don’t have a mis match of colours as it can be over powering. Stick to a cool colour scheme.
A simple room is an elegant looking room. If you are looking to achieve the modern look then I definitely recommend staying with the white and simple thing and maybe introducing colours like grey or beige.

Add a tray
Add a simple tray to your bedside table or on your desk that only has a few important things in it. This is a great way to make your room look more interesting whilst still keeping it simple.
Accessorise your table trays with smaller items to make it look more simple and modern. A great choice is having a vase of flowers, it adds a little bit of colour whilst keeping the look modern.
Pick the right lampshade
Picking the right lampshade could be the thing that completely changes the look of your bedroom. This is such an affordable way to make a massive change to your room.
Amazon has a huge range of different lampshades with such beautiful designs. I personally think the lampshades with a couple diamonds are the prettiest ones.

I’m in the process of redoing my bedroom right now, these are all so cute! Will definitely keep them in mind
Our bedroom is definitely too cluttered and over crowded. The plan is to completely change it round this year, decorate it and and change all the furniture. I like the plant idea. I definitely want to get one in there somewhere.

I love this! Always looking to change up my decor. I think what’s great about having a ‘blank canvas’ of a white or neutral wall is you can change up the different colours to suit, can’t you? Also you can never have too may fairy lights or cushions!

This is such a good little post and like your bedroom idea, the page isn’t cluttered which I love too, makes it easier to read haha. I love these ideas, my bedrooms got the white walls for that exact reason, however I’ve got the next to me cot and 2 bedside tables to put the babies milk and bottles etc on if a night. Soon as he’s in his own room though, de cluttering time and I’ll be coming back to this post for a little idea top up xx

Absolutely loved this post! I redo my room so often! Keeping things simple is something I definitely learnt to do over time. I used to think the more stuff I had on display the better but now it’s the complete opposite. These are all really good tips! My pillow collection is something I’m working on. Still have a little while to go though!

Nice and simple. I too prefer a minimalistic decor ideas. It’s easier to manage and maintain a timeless look over the years.
We’ll start renovating our house in the next couple of months so these are great bedroom ideas I will definitely consider. We might need new lamps and perhaps get rid of the feature wall and paint it white to give the illusion of a bigger space. Thanks a lot for sharing these tips!
