Are you looking to make a little extra income without having to put in lots of effort or time? I have done so much research over the years on the best methods to use. I have read so many websites that claim they have found ways to make money but when you actually implement their ideas, you never get anywhere. A lot of methods just take too long, So I have put together my own post on ways to make money online without paying anything!
I am currently writing this in May 2020, so this income has arisen over the last 4 months (Jan – April). I will show you the break down of the different easy methods I used. So my overall total was: £291.65.
So a little disclaimer, this money can come in the form of gift cards, not all of it goes straight into my bank account.
ways to make money online without paying anything: Overview
- Panelbase
- Trading 212
- Qmee
- HuYu app
- The Opinion Panel
- Sweatcoin
PIN FOR LATER TO COME BACK TO THESE TIPS!
Panelbase
The first method and the method I have been using for the longest is PanelBase. This is a survey website. Now I know what you’re thinking. I bet you have tried a survey website at some point to try and make some extra cash but you just don’t really get anywhere. A lot of survey websites just don’t offer enough surveys to make any money from it.
Panelbase is by far the best survey website I have ever used to make money. There are constantly surveys to be filling in and they are offered at a reasonable price.
Occasionally, they offer you a sort of a survey that you fill in over a period of time. For example, I was offered a survey where I was sent a product and I had to try these new sweeties and offer my feedback in exchange for £15. So as you can guess I was beyond happy to accept that offer.
As you can see below, I was offered an ‘app download’ survey for £25 where they wanted me to download and test an app for them.
So I normally do the surveys that last 3 – 15 minutes and I normally just leave the ones longer than 15 minutes purely because I don’t have the time span to be filling it in for that long. I do my surveys in the evening when I am just relaxing watching TV. So they don’t take up an extra time out my my day.
As you can see below, my overall survey rewards is: £141.75. I have already taken out £82.55 which is now in my bank account. When you withdraw your money you are offered the chance to give it to charity, take it out as a voucher
Trading 212
Trading 212 is a website/ app where you can invest your money and try and make a profit from it. As I am far from the best person to take about shares with, I thought i would go through how I use Trading 212 to make my money without investing hundreds.
So, my overall balance with Trading 212 is £114.22. Now I have to mention that I can withdraw this balance at any point and the money will go straight into my bank account. Or I could leave the money in and see if the price of my shares increases. By doing this I am also risking the fact my share could go down.
How I make my money with trading 212:
So because I actually have no idea which are the best shares to invest in, I don’t put my money into the app, I use the ‘get free shares’ option. I have invested £1 into the app as that is what you have to do for the free share option to work.
So I simply give my link to my friends and family who create an account and invested £1 into a cheap share.
I BELIEVE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY HAVE TO INVEST IN A SHARE FOR THE FREE SHARE TO WORK!
- Sister joined through my link so I acquired my Uber share worth £29.37.
- Dad joined through my link so I acquired my National grid share worth £9.24.
- When my mum joined I acquired my Starbucks share worth £63.04.
- When my boyfriend joined I acquired my BooHoo share worth £7.61.
As you can see, the free share can be worth any value up to £100!
So after time, I thought I would invest a little more money so I bought Enquest and Lloyds which were fairly cheap. So I put in £5 and I now have £114.
Do you want to get a free stock share worth up to £100?
Create a Trading 212 Invest account right now to get started using this link www.trading212.com/invite/FMA3STya and we both get a free share!
As a little extra, if you are really into buying and selling shares then you can download the chrome extension where you can easily see how your shares are doing.
I honestly think this is my favourite ways to make money online without paying anything because I put in no effort at all. So I recommend this method as you can easily rack up some money just from your friends and family signing up.
Qmee
Qmee is a google Chrome exstention that rewards you money for searching things in google.
IT IS THAT SIMPLE!
I have only made a fiver from it so far, but it is money I didnt have before so I am happy.
“Earn real cash when you search, shop & take surveys with Qmee. Get cash rewards for shopping online & sharing your opinion. No minimum cashout. Daily surveys. Get deals online today. Earn cash today”
Qmee
So is this is the side bar that will pop up when you google something. It normally shows related content so here I googled Tesco M&Ms. All you have to do to get the 5p is to click on the link. You don’t even have to stay on the link if it is not what were were looking for.
The good thing about Qmee is they also offer surveys, (I personally have never taken part in the surveys for no reason other than I actually forgot they did them until I wrote this post!)
So in actual fact, I could have made more money with Qmee if I had taken part in the surveys.
HuYu app
So I have currently made £5 from HuYu. It is an app where you can scan your food shopping receipts. Each receipt equals £0.05. You can also answer questionnaires for are about 2 minutes long and work out at about £0.15 so the pennies add up. It’s such a simple way to spend very little time on making money.
As you can see I am working towards my second £5 voucher.
HuYu offer you a £5 voucher or gift card when you reach the milestone. They offer vouchers for hundreds of places so you are bound to find a place to spend your £5. These are just some of the rewards:
The Opinion Panel
So I left this one till last because you have to meet certain requirements to be able to join the Opinion Panel. I believe they are looking for students.
My total income so far from the opinion panel was £25 in the form of a gift card.
As you can see below, you have to work up toward each £25. So I am currently only 850 points away from my next £25 voucher.
I do have to say that the surveys are less frequent than Panel base, but nevertheless, I have been able to successfully make gain 2500 points which mean I received a £25 voucher.
Most surveys are around 50 – 200 points depending on the time they take to complete.
You can gain points through completing surveys, joining in with focus groups ( which I have yet to do) and they offer product testing ( my favourite way to make money!)
The gift voucher you receive offers a tonne of rewards. I used my in Wilkos but you can use yours in Amazon, Sports Direct and so much more!
Sweatcoin
“Hi, we’re Sweatcoin. We want a healthier you on a healthier planet. We achieve this by converting your steps into a currency to spend on cool products and service”
Sweatcoin
Sweatcoin is an app on your phone whihc connects to the health app that tracks your steps so that you can get paid ‘sweatcoins for your steps’.
So 20 sweatcoins is $1. You can make 1 sweatcoin for every 1000 steps. You can also make more sweatcoins by inviting your friends and receiving bonuses.
I have only recently found out about Sweatcoin so I have no results from it yet but I really think it looks promising so I will be sure to update this when I get results!
I have a link that you can use to join here!
Conclusion
So that show I have made £291.65 without really doing anything. There are so many tricks to making money online you just have to find them. Some of these methods might not work for you the way they have done for me. However, you may even be able to make even more money than I have done if you use the websites and apps more efficiently.
If you know of any other ways to make money online without paying anything please do let me know! I am very interested!

Really useful advice, thanks Amber. I hadn’t heard of many of these websites before so it’s definitely been interesting to see what they offer. I’m usually quite sceptical about this sort of thing, but Panelbase in particular sounds interesting.

This was really interesting to read. I’ve heard of a lot of people trying surveys however the response has been mixed – a lot of sites pay pennies, so you’re putting far too much time into it for little pay out. However, it looks there are some credible options!

Yess! I have literally tried every survey sites and some were completely useless but with Panelbase I have almost made £200 while watching telly. It’s just a no brainer really!

As a business nerd, and as someone who loves the idea of a free stock share, I cannot thank you enough for sharing this post.
I am somewhat afraid of the stock market! However, this free share option makes the barrier of entry a little less intimidating.

For the online surveys, from Panelbase… Have you figured out what the earnings look like on a per hour basis? Many survey sites seem like they use a lot of your time for little money. It appears this one might be better?
amber.page.1999@gmail.com says
I’m not sure what it would be per hour, however, I did do a survey the other day where I received £25 for a 45-minute survey. As I say, I normally just do them when I am watching telly so to me its no added time at all.
Jaya Avendel says
Since I am one of those people who was a little skeptical about apps like this, I loved reading about your first hand experiences earning money! I am more inspired to give it a go. 🙂

It is always nice to make some extra money! Ooooh, it is great that you made almost £300!! You can’t go wrong with trading. There was a great opportunity at the beginning of the pandemic when everything dropped. It is great when you can get some cash back too from your spending! Thanks for sharing!

I tried Sweatcoins before but I uninstalled it when lockdowns started happening due to the pandemic. It seems to be an interesting concept but I don’t think it’s one the ideal ways for me to earn. Perhaps due to my location (products feauted are purchased abroad). They do have causes one can support too but since I’m really more after earning for extra cash, Sweatcoins didn’t work so well for me.
But I’ll give some of your other ideas a try too!
Liz
