Hello everyone, I hope everybody is doing well. I decided for my first blog I should talk about the here and now and address the current situation that is COVID – 19 and the UK lockdown. There is so much uncertainty and fear that I believe we need to keep ourselves as busy as possible so that we keep ourselves going instead of getting into the so easy cycle of sleeping 4 am – 2 pm, lying in bed on our phones all day every day. So I’ve put together a little list of how to beat boredom at home alone, with activities you can do in lockdown to keep sain 😊 :

Start a bullet Journal
This is something that I have been looking into recently. Before I stepped into the blogging world, I never really knew what a bullet journal was. But now I’ve read up on a couple of blog posts about them and they seem so cool. It seems like a great way to get creative with the pages and write down everything you want to write about.
When I get my journal I will most likely use it as a habit tracker along with a goal-setting section. But you can use it for anything!. I have seen people simply use it as a diary, to track their finances and to just doodle and make notes.
Organise your wardrobe/ draws
Have a cleanout. Sell some of your clothes on Depop make a little bit of extra cash. I have found this is a great way to :
- 1. clear out your draws and wardrobes and
- 2. make a little bit of money on the side.
Try a new beauty product
It is always fun to try out new things and you might even find your new favourite. Do a bit of research and look at the reviews for different products that you haven’t used before.
Treat yourself every now and then.
Create a scrap book
Scrapbooking is so fun, you can print off pictures of all your memories and put them in one place. Being bored can make you feel a little down so creating a scrapbook means you can relive old memories.
Try Yoga
Yoga can be very calming. You can push yourself as far as you want to go and it is not high intensity. I have done yoga many times before and I have always enjoyed it.
Set some lockdown goals
Setting goals is a great way to keep you motivated. These can just be things as simile as achieving 30 minutes of exercise a day. Or making sure you clean out a cupboard by the end of the week. Give yourself a target for every day.
Purchase a daily goal journal where you can write everything down and make plans. It makes things so much easier and will motivate you to get them done.
Also remember: During lockdown, it is not essential that you achieve anything. You don’t have to be productive if you don’t want to and you don’t have to feel bad about it.
Go for long walks
If you’re isolating alone there’s still plenty of things you can get on with. Going for walks allows you to get the fresh air you wouldn’t normally get working/studying 9-5.
It gives you time to think, time to take in your surroundings, or walk to places you wouldn’t normally walk to. Walking is also a great way to burn calories. Just simply going on a walk each day can help improve your lifestyle.
Experiment with your hairstyle
Learn new tricks. This is something i have been doing recently. I have been learning all of the different ways I can curly my hair without using heat and it is so fun!
Have a look at Tiktok
Just give in and have a go! You can keep yourself entertained for hours and hours on Tiktok so what could go wrong?
Try being creative and make some yourself. You never know what might go viral.
Download an audiobook
If you can’t make it to the bookstore try downloading a book that you can listen to instead. It is a great way to relax whilst doing something meaningful.
Try a podcast
Similarly, give a podcast a go. Listening to podcasts was something I had neer really thought of doing before but there are some really interesting ones out there.
Do a bit of research and see what you can find.
Create an Amazon Wishlist
I did this the other day and it was a super fun way to spend my time. Have a look at all the things you fancy and put it all on one list. When people ask you what you would like at as a gift now you’ll have something to show them!
I have a couple of gift guides and present gifting help if you are struggling to find things you want. I have always been someone to answer ‘nothing’ when people ask me what I want so maybe these guides can help you out!
Make homemade ice cream
Who doesn’t love ice cream? You can add in any flavour you want and make it your own so it will taste even better than the shop version. If you are allergic to something in regular ice cream it means you can make your own with a substitute in it.
Try a paint by numbers
Buy a paint by numbers! You can grab some off eBay for cheap. Painting by numbers is a fab way to keep busy, its quite therapeutic and its something you probably wouldn’t normally do in your free time.
GET CREATIVE!
You wouldn’t believe the amount of enjoyment you can get out of doing one of these. Honestly! The one below is from Amazon:
Home workouts
So, I know home workouts take so much effort. But seriously just doing 10 minutes a day can make you feel so good about yourself. I watch Psyche Trust on youtube and I’ve been following the beginner’s videos on the channel. I also use Chole Ting and Holly Dolke’s videos which have really got me motivated.
GET MOVING AROUND.
Just think, now you’ve got the time to start working on yourself so why not give it a go. There are plenty of routines and workouts on youtube so there’s something for everyone.
Try Zumba
If you want something a bit more fun than basic sit ups, then look on youtube for some Zumba videos. There are plenty out there. I like to go for the more salsa style of Zumba and I love it!
Baking
Make a cheesecake or some chocolate brownies. Baking is super fun and people don’t do it often enough! I made an Oreo cheesecake the other day and it was the most amazing this – I will be writing a blog post soon on this!
Create a blog
Creating a blog during these times gives you a platform to write about whatever you want. You can create your own personal website and have something that’s all about you. This is one of my favourite ways on how to beat boredom at home alone as it is something that I took on myself.
Whether you just want to start a blog for fun or to make a little bit of money, its a great way to keep occupied.
DO YOUR RESEARCH AND GO FOR IT!
There are so many courses out there where you can find the right information. Cary Campbell is someone who has massively helped me start my blog and get it going. I have used her Pinterest course and her affiliate marketing course.
There are also so many free courses you can dive right into.
I am very excited to see where my blog goes in the future and I’m enjoying the way things are going with designing it so I defiantly recommend especially if it has been something you’ve been thinking about for a while.
PIN FOR LATER!
Make a new playlist
Create a new playlist, take the time to find some different music and give it a go! You never know what you might come across.
Learn something new
Learn a language. Take an online course – there are so many free courses on the internet if you just google something you’re interested in you’ll find one.
Wash your makeup brushes
This is something that just always leaves my mind. I never seem to remember to wash my brushes. So when I’m bored and I have the time I give them a little clean. It’s quite simple to do so, you can either use a makeup brush cleaner or just use conditioner.
Redo your room
A great tip on how to beat boredom at home alone is to have a redecorating day! This can lead to an entire project so you won’t be bored for a while. Do a bit of painting around the house. Do some research, take a look at Pinterest and see if any of the designs take your fancy. There are so many home decor ideas on Pinterest. I have written a post on 10 bedroom inspiration ideas you will love if that takes your fancy. Or just simply move the furniture around for a new look.
Create a bucket list
Do some research. Have a look at all the corners of the world and see what takes your fancy. You will find such amazing places. I am coming out with a blog post about the best places you NEED on your bucket list so be sure to look out for that!
Read a book
Something so simple, but doesn’t get done. Reading books is something we don’t really have the time to do. So why not make the most of this time and do something intellectual and relaxing. I am currently in the middle of The Summer Theatre by the Sea by Tracy Corbett – so far so good
Try gardening
You can start as simple as growing a few tomato’s or sunflowers. Or you can go all out and start a pretty little garden. Whether you go for flowers or vegetables, gardening is a great use of your time.
Prepare in advance for birthdays
I am someone who always leaves it too close when getting peoples birthday presents. So while you have the time why not do a bit of online shopping and see what goodies you can find.
TIP: Buy your cards in bulk so you have some spare around the house.

Blogging and working out are honestly the main things getting me through the lockdown! I also think making plans for late this year/next year is important as it gives you something to look forward to. I am going to take a long weekend away at forest holidays and just relax with my other half! That will make me very zen 🙂

Some great ideas. We’re exercising a lot more and trying to learn a language. As for hair, I’m currently experiencing with not cutting it at all. Twelve weeks and counting and in truth, it’s a wavy mess!

I always love having a clear out/tidy up of my room when I’m feeling bored and restless! It’s so good for making you feel refreshed and clear your space a bit. Yoga is something I still really want to try that I haven’t yet gotten round to – I do try and stretch a lot though as I always feel like it wakes me up and gets my body ready for the day!
