Move yourself
Getting up and moving has so many benefits starting with the obvious health benefits. Laying in bed all means you aren’t using your body it can cause back pain and you are accomplishing anything, so it also gets your mood down. So just having a 3-minute walk every hour can get your body moving and keeps you exercising. A great app for this it the FitBit app that notifies you every hour to get your 250 steps.
This is the cheapest Fitbit I could find on Amazon. I do recommend getting one I absolutely love mine!
Wake up early
Waking up early means you get on with any jobs you’ve got to do. You can accomplish so much more by waking up early. It leads to you being more productive, so you’ll be more tired making it easier to sleep at night.
Go to bed earlier
Having a good sleep routine means you can sort your body clock out. Getting enough sleep can help improve your memory and you’ll be more productive the next day. Having a good sleeping pattern will put your body in a routine and the human body loves a routine.
Eat breakfast
I do believe eating breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you energy for a good start. Again, as I mentioned earlier, it puts you into a routine. By eating the first meal of the day you are ready.
Have fewer takeaways
Having fewer takeaways means you can begin to meal prep. Meal prepping allows you to save money and eat food that is more beneficial to your health. So there are multiple benefits to this tip.
Budget
Budgeting means you can start saving for bigger things! – (I’ll be writing a blog post on this soon!)
I have a post on 5 ways to make money online without paying anything (I made £300). I’ve done so much research over the years on the best methods to use through trial and error. I have read tonnes of sites that claim they have found ways to make money but when you actually use their ideas, they don’t work. A lot of methods just take too long, So I have put together my own post on ways to make money online without paying anything!
Plan
Write to-do lists – it motivates you to get jobs done. Planning leads to a better end result. Get a journal to keep track of everything. I find that when I write things down I can see all the jobs I need to do and I can then plan my time more efficiently.
Create ambitions
Having ambition is so important, it drives you and it gives you a purpose. It means you will try you best at achieving your short-term goals to build up to your long-term goal.
Make your bed
“If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day” It’s such a little thing that sets you up for the rest of the day. It will put you in the right mood. It will take about 2 minutes so it is a simple activity with a bigger meaning to it.
Reading is important as it improves your vocabulary and develops your mind. It helps to give you a better understanding of things. It not only increases your knowledge, but it gives you a break from everything and takes you away from anything on your mind. So many people don’t read enough.
You could maybe make a reading list and do a bit of research to find books you would actually enjoy.
PIN FOR LATER!
Watch less TV
Watching less TV and leaving the binge watching behind. You’ll find you have so much more time to do other things, to spend time with family and friends and to get out in the fresh air rather than being stuck inside.
Do make sure you still take time to chill out and watch Netflix but do have your time away as well.
Eat more vegetables
Change your diet and add more vegetables to your meals. It’s a little thing you can do to improve your health. They provide you with so many vitamins.
Do yoga
Find 10 minutes out of your day to complete a quick yoga routine. It gives you strength and improves your flexibility – who wouldn’t want that?
There are so many routines on youtube so you are bound to find one you like and one that suits your needs.
Compliment others
Complimenting others is a great way to increase positivity. It is such a lovely thing to do and it makes both parties feel better. So its a win-win really.
Drink water
Drink your 2 litres a day!! This is such a small change with so many benefits. Buying a bigger water bottle definitely helped me. I have a 1 litre one from Wilkos but you can buy them from anywhere. It means I must drink two of them a day.
I would advise investing in a decent water bottle that you can reuse instead of buying plastic ones:
Self-care for a healthier lifestyle
Have fun by yourself, have some time alone. Learn how to love yourself. (I will be writing a blog post on this soon!) There are so many ways you can go about this. Pour yourself a bath and chill out with a face mask.
Short workouts
There are so many little 10-minute workout videos to try on YouTube. I definitely recommend taking some time out of your day to complete one of these as it makes you feel 10x better when you’re done. I’ve been doing Holly Dolke’s 30-day lockdown challenge where she does 6-12 minute videos for every day.
Positivity
Keep track of positive things in your life. When you’re looking out for it, it makes you notice things more. Write down when you have a good day, or track it in your journal.
Say yes
BE SPONTANEOUS! You never know how much fun you can have if you don’t try. Saying no to something is a missed opportunity that you may not get a chance to do again. Opportunities come and go so you have to make the most of them.
Create routines
Routines are such a big thing for me as they are for many people. It keeps you on track and gives you an idea of everything you need to get done. You can schedule things into your routines. It gives you less chance of forgetting to do something.
Get an electric toothbrush
This is an odd one. But honestly, I asked for an electric toothbrush for my 20th birthday and I can tell you that it’s deffo worth the investment. I love it.
Oral-B do a massive range of electric toothbrushes. This is the cheapest one I could fine that uses batteries so you don’t have to charge it.
Eat more fruit
A good way to get fruit into your diet is by having some for breakfast. You can just add it right on. Or include it in your cereal or in your yogurt, or with your pancakes.
Cut out sugar
Eating too much sugar can make you gain weight and can cause tooth decay. So if you want a healthier lifestyle cut out fizzy drinks, use them as treats instead of having them every day. Eat less chocolate or switch to dark chocolate and again use it as a treat instead. You will enjoy it more as a luxury.
Say hi to strangers
Smiling at a stranger when you walk down the road will put a smile on there face and make you feel good about yourself for doing so.
Obviously, remember stranger danger, but a simple smile won’t hurt anyone.
Treat yourself
For a healthier lifestyle, you need to give yourself a break from anything stressing you out. Have some chocolate as a treat. Or buy yourself that new dress you have been looking at.
Learn something new
There are so many opportunities to learn something new. You can simple download an app and learn a new language. You can access so many free courses online. Many of them can provide you with new skills that could help you develop yourself as a person and lead to more opportunities.
Go for walks
Taking a walk is a great way to get off your phone and get some vitamin D and fresh air. It can help you to refresh you mind and get rid of any negative thoughts.
Volunteer
Having volunteered myself I can tell you it is a great way to give back to the community. It makes you feel like you’re doing something useful with your time. There are so many opportunities within local areas to volunteer.
Take lots of pictures
A tip for a healthier lifestyle is to take pictures and save the memories. It gives you something to look back on.
This is something that I wish I did more of but I always forget!
Remove toxic people
A simple action that will make you feel 10x better. You’ll be cutting out unnecessary stress and you can switch your focus to more important things. Put your time to better use.
Reduce screen time
This is such an important thing to achieve a healthier lifestyle. It does not do anyone any good being on Instagram and looking at all these edited pictures. Staring at a screen at night time is proven to make it more difficult to get to sleep. I’ve written a post about what you can do if you get bored HERE.
Make smoothies!
Make fruity smoothies. It’s a fun thing to do whilst using healthy ingredient. The fact you made it will make it taste even better.
So that concluded my list of 30+ little lifestyle changes for a happier healthier life! Only picking a few things to start with will help them become habits. As everyone knows it takes 21 days to create a habit. Therefore taking a few and sticking with them is the key, you cannot focus on everything at once so split it down and it will be more manageable to make these little changes.

Love this post today. I’ve started to do more of these things lately and I feel so much better! I love that you included say hi to strangers. This is something I’ve got from my dad and always do. It can be the difference between them having a good day or a rubbish one. It might help them so much and people don’t realise. Be good if everyone did this 🙂 thanks for sharing x

Hi Amber. What a comprehensive list of tips, thanks. I was reading the other day that the USA’s Navy Seals are all told to start their days by making their beds – because, as you say, that’s one task for day done already and encourages you to move on and complete the next. I quite often do the ‘Saying hi to strangers’ thing and it can be quite amusing – the look of shock on the face of some people is priceless!

Great list of ideas! I surely need to get onto doing more of these!

I love that this covers more than just eating and exercising. You’re so right that there is so much more to being healthy than simply what we put in to our bodies x

This is a good collection of tips Amber. I started to go earlier to bed and as a result I feel better the next day. And cutting the toxic people out leaves so much space for being with really lovely people -or just alone (=also great!)
