We have all heard about “spring cleaning” and I will be the first one to tell you I love a spring clean. I did write a post on how to bring spring into your home which you can get some inspiration from after this post. However, it is also important to “spring clean your life”.
There are many other aspects of your life that need a lovely little refresh, and all of these will benefit your overall health and mental health. Plus having a spring clean of your life is a perfect way of getting rid of toxic traits, cleansing our own thoughts and even that clutter in your life. I recommend taking my tips into account, to help start again and feel good within your mind and home.
RECENT POST: The Ultimate Guide to Practice Self-care
I feel like the way you could look at it is as the season changes from Winter to Spring people can change too. However, you will know when it is time to Spring clean your life because your energy may decrease, your mood changes, everything feels cluttered and this ultimately will affect your productivity, creativity, the outcome of your work and just lack of motivation.
Therefore, today I am going through the ways you can Spring clean your life, and bring back that good energy!
Overview: Spring clean your life
- Revamp your routine
- Declutter
- Unplug from the phone
- Clean your feed
- Organise your home
- Adopt a self-care routine
Revamp your routine
Sometimes you need to refresh your life and routine! So switch things up and try something new. I like to change my routine up daily/weekly this is just so I stay motivated and focused on my goals/tasks.
As a result, I tend to be more productive and produce better quality work within my life. Also creating a new routine can be fun and seem like you are doing something “new” even if you only switch up a couple of things. This is something I believe is even more important right now during lockdown in order to keep a bit of normality.
One example could be if you work out in the morning you could switch this to the evening, or if you have a certain way of doing a task maybe try a different way.
Here is a post all about the benefits of having a routine.
Declutter
I don’t know about you but I love a declutter. There is nothing more satisfying than emptying your closet or drawers and getting rid of clothes or stuff you don’t need. It is like a weight being lifted.
I do recommend having a declutter regularly, even through your phone. Get rid of negativity, or all those emails, get rid of old blog posts that don’t fit with your blog anymore etc. Trust me decluttering is beneficial for your overall well-being. Having a space that is tidy and calm will benefit your life in many ways.
Also cleansing your social media will bring less stress into your life and work towards creating a more positive and fulfilling lifestyle. All which will contribute to helping your well-being and mental health.
I have some helpful tips for organising here.
Unplug from the Phone
We are in lockdown so I understand it is difficult to step away from the phone right now. However, I couldn’t recommend it enough! Taking a day off of social media/your phone will encourage you to focus on yourself, and just live in the moment. Also you get to enjoy the company of those around you (if you live with people).
These are difficult times right now so making sure our mental health and well-being is looked after is so important. Therefore, spending too much time online can be detrimental to our health, and so taking that much needed break is recommended.
I usually always have at least 1 day or even just taking afternoon’s off and this just gives me a break and a chance to live in the moment. Also it really helps my mental health and I can come back to social media with fresh eyes.
I also wrote some other well-being tips here.
Clean your feed
As I mentioned make sure to regularly clean your feed. It is crucial that you only have or follow people that make you feel good, inspire you or bring positivity into your life. Plus it is totally ok to follow someone and then realise that maybe they are not what you want on your feed anymore.
I tend to do this every month because sometimes you don’t realise that you don’t want to follow a person until after a little while. However, I do recommend you cleaning your feed because it honestly helps you in so many ways!
It can start with your feed and then you can go onto other areas of your life to clean. For example, clearing old emails or apps on your phone that are not needed etc.
Organise your home
It can be easy to get into a routine of not putting things back where they belong, especially if you are feeling lazy. However, I can’t recommend it enough to just spend time organising stuff in your home. Plus you will feel so much better for it after. A tidy home a tidy mind as they say.
Also the benefits to your health once everything is organised and clean is amazing! You will enjoy the space you are in much more, and your work will thrive off of the space as well!
I recommend organising at least once a week to keep on top of it. You can even break this down to little tasks each day (if you have time).
I have shared some cleaning tips here.
Adopt a self care routine
Lastly, I can’t recommend enough how important it is to have that self-care routine! As I have mentioned looking after your well-being is important so having that time that you dedicate to looking after yourself will benefit you. For example, having a bath with a face mask on, or sitting in the garden with your favourite book.
I personally make sure to schedule self-care into my routine/daily or weekly diary, as this ensures I never forget or neglect looking after myself. Plus you will be thankful when you are doing your tasks and see you have scheduled time for a bath or time to read.
Make sure your health is a priority.

Really love this post! For years I thought I was a really spontaneous person but in the past year I’ve realised that I actually need routine to function properly! It’s always good changing up routines every now and then just so you don’t get bored. Also think unplugging from social media is such a good idea, especially recently! There’s so much information all of the time so it is nice to take a break every now and then for some sanity!
