So I don’t know about you but I was always under the impression that men’s razors were sharper and worked best as a razor. There I was shopping for men’s razors, using men’s razors until I looked a bit further and found a range of razors suitable for women with sensitive skin.
So you’re here because you have sensitive skin?
Having sensitive skin can be a bit of an issue but with what’s accessible in today’s world I am sure we will be able to find you the perfect razor.
If you look closely I have added some discount codes!

How to choose the best razor
A razor is something that is meant to work for everyone, but those with sensitive skin know that that isn’t the case. Which is why it is so important to pick the right one.
So you can go for disposable razors or safety razors. Disposable razors are normally cheaper but lower quality as you just throw them away. For someone with sensitive skin, it is probably best to go with a safety razor. This means you can change the blades when you need so that you aren’t saving with a blunt blade, which is where issues fall into place.
- A good razor is one that doesn’t irritate you and that does the job.
- The more blades the better, the better the cut – eg. razors with 5 blades, but we will talk more about this later.
- The easier it moves around your curves the better – so razors that are more mobile will be better suited to your skin.
REMEMBER: Make sure you use a shaving cream or gel if you have sensitive skin. This will reduce bumps on your skin.
Does it matter how many blades are on your razor?
“Gillette claims that five blades cut closer than two do. It’s because the catching-and-cutting process repeats twice: The first blade catches, the next cuts, the third catches and the fourth cuts.”
How Stuff Works
However it is thought that the more blades, the more likely you are to accidently cut yourself.
My current razor faves
I will talk more about these two options later but these are the two razors that I have been using recently and love!
The great thing about these two razors is that they are vegan.
Estrid
Estrid is my current razor and it has to be one of my favourites. The handle is quite heavy (for a razor) which I quite like.
“We weighted our steel handle with an underside in rubber for a steady grip. Shaped to fit the palm of your hand perfectly in order to facilitate your shave (even in the hard-to-reach places!).”

FFS (Friction Free Saving)
I recently wrote an article on my first impressions on the FFS razor where I reviewed it. You can check it out here: FFS Review: Friction Free Shaving Razors.
My first subscription box came with a handle with my name engraved, some wax strips, a natural deodorant and 4 razor blades for for each week.
Benefits of a razor subscription

I know that Estrid and FFS run subscriptions. It means that you don’t have to worry once you have found a razor that suits you. You can just let the subscription take care of it’s self where new blades get deceived to your door.

Miss Soleil Women’s Disposable Razors
If you are looking for a cheap disposable razor this could be the one for you if you have sensitive skin. You can get these from any drugstore shop such as Boots or Superdrug you can also find them in Wilko and most supermarkets like Tesco. They come with four blades. You are recommended to use 4 blades a month.
They come at a lovely price of £1.92 on the Boots website or £3.85 on the Superdrug website. So if you were looking to spend a little less money initially then these razors would be better.
This razor gives a close smooth shave as it has triple-blade technology and a lubricating strip enriched with Vitamin E.
The great thing is these razors are disposable!
Solimo Female 5 Blade Razor
If you are looking for that close shave with 5 blades then take a look at the Solimo Female 5 Blade Razor.
You can get this razor from Amazon or On buy.com for £12.99. It comes with 3 or 5 extra blades depending on what you choose.
This razor is has a rounded refill with botanical oils, to help the razor glide over the skin and follow the contours of your body.
So this is what I was talking about when I mentioned a razor that moves with your body. It has 24 degrees of pivot; refill pivots 12 degrees to the right and 12 degrees to the left.
Gillette Venus Extra Smooth Swirl Women’s Razor
Again, you can get these from Boots and Amazon. This is one of my favourites because look how pretty the handle is! You can find it for £6 on Amazon.
Features of this razor include:
Razor with Venus Flexiball pivots to contour to your body for a flawless shave
Five diamond‐like coated razor blades, ideally balanced, glide over your skin
MicroFine comb guides hair to the blades that capture virtually every hair
The water-activated ribbon of moisture around the blade helps protect from nicks and cuts
Any Venus Refill fits any Venus handle, except Simply Venus

- “Shaving using any of the shaving methods (straight razor, safety razor, or electric razor) can have side-effects, including cuts, abrasions, and irritated skin.”
- Shaving with a safety razor can help reduce razor burn.

This is so great.. I usually wax or use shaving cream because I’ve always had some reaction from shaving stick. Someone recommended estrid and I am really tempted to try it ..

This is a great post. I have been looking for a better razor as I do suffer from sensitive skins. I think I need to try estrid and ffs. In the past, I use the Gillette but did not like it.

Great tips in here! I usually use an electric razor and sometimes those creams that make your hairs fall out, but this seems really convenient actually and the fact that it’s cruelty free and relatively good for the environment does help! I think I might try the Estrid when holidays are back on the table.

Wow, Estrid and this new Gillette release looks fabbbb and expensive! I have dry skin and my old Gillette still works for me so I’m good with it. But great recommendations!

I really want to get a refillable razor and haven’t been able to decide between FFS or Estrid but I really like the sound of FFS having the send back blades so I think I’ll go with them. Great post Amber xx
