When it comes to looking after your nails, you can do many different things to keep them healthy, strong and beautiful. From the right products and tools to specific treatments and advice on taking care of your nails, here are five tips that will help you look after your nails.
Moisturize Regularly
It’s essential to keep your nails moisturized on a regular basis. Doing this helps prevent dryness and keeps the nails hydrated for longer periods of time. This can be done with a good quality cuticle oil or cream that contains natural oils such as jojoba or coconut oil. Simply massage the oil or cream into the nail bed and cuticles at least once a day. You can also use a hand cream that contains shea butter or vitamin E oil for additional moisture.
Avoid Acetone Based Products
Acetone is typically found in nail polish removers which can damage the nail if used too often. Instead of using acetone-based products, try using non-acetone-based products instead, which are gentler on the nails and less drying as well. Additionally, avoid harsh cleansers or detergents when washing dishes or cleaning around the house, as these, too, can strip away moisture from your hands and nails, leaving them dry and brittle.
Visit Your Nail Salon Regularly
Visiting a professional nail salon regularly is also something you should consider if you want to keep up with how healthy your nails look overall. Professional technicians will be able to offer advice on things like the best fungal nail treatment or other treatments that can help with any issues or concerns you may have. They will also be able to trim and shape your nails correctly, so they remain healthy and strong.
Protect Your Nails While Doing Chores
Washing dishes without gloves, doing laundry without wearing protective gloves, and gardening without wearing protective gloves; all these activities can cause damage to your hands and nails over time if not done properly with protection in place. To protect your hands while doing chores, wear protective gloves, which will protect against not only dirt but also any chemicals present in some household cleaners.
Take Supplements & Eat Right
Eating foods rich in vitamins A & C is essential for keeping your nails healthy since they contain antioxidants that help strengthen them from within. Taking multivitamin supplements is also recommended as an extra insurance policy when it comes to nourishing your body from within, including keeping your skin healthy and strong as well as keeping your nails healthy too! Some other foods that are beneficial for nail health include fatty fish such as salmon (rich in omega-3 fatty acids), carrots (vitamin A) & nuts (magnesium).
These five tips should be followed if you want to keep up with your nails’ health and ensure they look beautiful for longer periods. With just a few simple changes and working a few extra steps into your nail care routine, you will be well on your way to healthy, strong and beautiful nails.
Jenni @ I on Image says
Yes to all of these points! Especially going regularly to the salon, even if it’s just for a mani without the polish. My nails were unevenly shaped and some were always more brittle than others (almost like they were from different hands 😀 ) After regular salon appointments I finally reached an even shape and can now maintain them myself much better.
