Ad | Like most people, the kitchen is a room of the house that you take great pride in maintaining and keeping clean at all times.
You probably see it as your workplace in the house that you have a responsibility to keep on top of, and whilst most people have their gadgets you feel you have to have the best in appliances to keep your kitchen acceptable to your standards.
Maybe you replace decor and fixtures whenever you feel they are a bit outdated other than working them until they falter. So what are the current trends set to become a must have for 2021 in your kitchen?
Less Clutter, More Efficiency
We like to ensure that every area of the kitchen is utilised, especially if it is a smaller space.
This can be done by installing high cabinets along one wall and tall wall units for narrow rooms, and for wider kitchens you can install a breakfast bar or island which provides great seating if you wish to get rid of that kitchen table that usually gets used to fold clothes on. An island feature also includes plenty of extra storage for pots and pans or other utensils scattered through drawers.
In installing these areas and potentially requiring a lot of work to be done, you can look to have luxury wood effect vinyl flooring layer your floor so that any severe damage can be replaced in small sections at a cheap price instead of real flooring.
Improve cleanliness
A kitchen is one of the most important rooms to keep clean. To make cleaning easier, there are many potential upgrades you can make to your kitchen.
For instance, these custom glass splashbacks can protect your walls from being splattered with food or oil. Wiping them down is much easier than having to scrub a wall, plus your walls will be protected from water damage.
Meanwhile, a handy kitchen sink upgrade could be a pull-down tap. These taps have an extendable handheld faucet that functions a bit like a showerhead, allowing you to get into the corners of your sink or more easily clean large pots and trays that don’t fit easily into the sink.
Of course, countertops that you can easily wipe down are a must-have feature too. If your countertops are old, they may have scratches that trap dirt and germs. A new smooth countertop is certain to be more hygienic.
Downdraft Extractors
Here is a big trend for 2021. Many people are now in the market for downdraft extractor systems which remove odours and vapours at the source.
Popular with those with open-plan kitchen spaces, these implementations to the hob allows a greater design emphasis as well as combat against odours permeating the air. It also means that if you do choose luxury vinyl tile, the tile will not be affected by any rise in temperature and flooring planks or tiles will not come loose or suffer damage.
Dual Tone Kitchens
Forget having a consistent kitchen when it comes to design. It is not the 1990s anymore.
Combining colours and designs to achieve a pleasing aesthetic is all the rage moving forward in order to add dimension to your kitchen. By having dark units with lightwood flooring you show a real creative duality to your surroundings that not only looks impressive but feels energetic. You can even mix and match vinyl tiles or planks into separating patterns or use abstract designs to create a seamless mix of tone.

I watched the latest season of Dream Home Makeover, and I am excited to one day design my kitchen as well! I love having contrasting colors for the countertop and cabinetry. Most houses in Singapore are too small to accommodate a kitchen island, but hopefully I will be able to. I love preparing meals and even dining on the kitchen island. It’s so versatile! Thanks for sharing these tips! 🙂

One of my favorite parts of the house is definitely the kitchen! I want to keep it super organized with labels, clutter-free, grease-free, and you know, just perfect and neat — which doesn’t happen very often because my nieces and nephews are all over the place lol. But I really appreciate these tips. Gotta make them child proof!
