Getting tired of staring at the same old stale walls day in and day out? Then you need to add some highlighting touches to your home. Doing so could even add a bit of extra value, and all in the space of a weekend – quick, efficient, and refreshing! Check out our little list of inspiration for some help to get started on improving the look of your space.
Paint the Stairs
The stairs are a pretty big feature in the home. They’re going to be central in the house and take up a lot of space in the process! That’s why you should paint and/or redecorate them from time to time.
Painting the stairs a new colour, or putting on a fresh gloss coat, or ripping up any flooring tiles and replacing them with fun and fresh decals, will give your home the refurbished highlight you’re really going for.
Lay New Hallway Flooring
If you’ve got a hallway in your home, no matter how prominent or small, make sure it’s been shined and sealed off properly. You can do this by laying new hallway flooring; if there’s a laminate flooring sale near you right now, buy up packets in bulk and get to work!
This can lead to a brand new vibe just inside the front doorway of your home or across the upstairs landing. With a fresh floor in place, you can make these areas seem much neater and tidier, especially if you’re in the process of modernising your home.
Set Up New Lights
New lighting doesn’t have to be hard and/or expensive to put in place. After all, you don’t need to break into the walls and rewire here! You just need to pick up some more floor or table lamps and pop them around your rooms.
If there are dark spots, put a little lamp there. If you’re sick of overhead lighting, put lamps in opposite corners of the room. If you want a little more illumination on the dinner table, go for a small and cosy faux-candle you can switch on and off.
Gloss the Ceiling
How long has it been since you paid attention to the ceiling in your home? Maybe a little while – even when we’re relaxing at home, we don’t really look up all that often. That means your ceiling could be in dire need of a new gloss coat. Really, if the ceiling is white and otherwise unpainted, this is definitely the way to go!
Put a tarp on the floor, get a step ladder out, and make sure you’ve stocked up on tins of gloss. It might take a good weekend or two, but once you’re done, you’ll notice your home is a lot shinier and fresher!
If you want your home to have a dramatic facelift, but you’re on a strict budget and timeframe, put quick and efficient projects like these to good use. They can all be done in quick succession as well!
