The days are colder, the nights are longer, and the weather is pretty much worse in most regards. Winter is here, which means it’s time to rethink your wardrobe if you’ve yet to do so. Here, we’re going to look at some of the staples you should make sure that you have in time to cope with the chill and stay nice and cosy.
The chunky sweaters
There are few things better for keeping you warm and comfy than a nice, big sweater. You want sweaters of a few different materials. Wool sweaters are great as a thick outer layer, but cashmere sweaters, while still warm, are thinner and, as such, can be layered into your outfits a lot more easily. Sweaters of different thicknesses can make sure that you’re always able to add another layer of padding without looking like a stuffed turkey.
A stylish outer jacket
If you’re heading outside, then a sweater might not be enough. On some days, you’re going to need your sturdiest coat to deal with the cold and rain but, otherwise, you want a jacket that’s protective and practical, but not overly heavy. Ladies wax jackets can fill that niche perfectly well. After all, they’re designed to be worn in town and country alike. What’s more, they have some pockets to go with them as well, making them an ever more practical choice.
A nice, dressy coat
Wax jackets can be good if it’s relatively calm outside and can help you get through a little bluster without any fuss. When the weather is really bad, however, then you need a good old-fashioned winter coat to cover you from top to bottom. There are great dressy coats that, while very effective at keeping you sheltered from the weather, will still look like part of a composed and cool outfit.
Sturdy boots
You want to make sure that you have more than one pair of reliable boots at the ready at any given time. A traditional Chelsea boot is cute, stylish, and still very effective, even in a smaller size, and it goes with all kinds of outfits, as well, for a nice versatile pick. However, you should make sure that you have a good pair of long boots for when the weather is truly nasty, as well.
Wrap up warm
Of course, it’s the perfect time to go looking for all of the warm and comfy extras that can help you get through the day. We’re talking about scarves, hats, and gloves. You can choose as many styles and looks as you want, but you want to make sure that you have at least one really effective and insulated pair of gloves and one well-fitting wooly hat so that you’re good to deal with even the worst of the weather if you have to head out.
With the staples above, you should be ready for whatever the thinner is going to through at you, regardless of what the weather is looking like outside. Of course, you might think of others to add to the list, too.
